I absolutely agree with German Crowdfunders. Regulation will kill this market. Investors know the risks and should invest appropriately based on that risk. Regulation means cost, costs will kill the market.
Crowdfunding platforms in Germany have warned that stricter investor protection rules will deter private investors from backing technology start-ups — limiting the funding options for new growth businesses and giving foreign rivals an advantage. A growing number of start-ups in Europe and the US have used online crowdfunding platforms in recent years, to post “pitches” inviting members of the public to pledge loans or investments in shares. Germany is currently the third-largest online alternative finance market in Europe, with funding volumes of €140m in 2014, according to a study by consultancy EY and the University of Cambridge. Only the UK, with volumes of €2,337m, and France, with €154m, have generated more funding from individuals via online platforms.
